Well. This story isn't your typical teenage girl love story, mainly because I'm a 32 year old 118kg balding man.
It all starts in 2008, Let me tell you, I was in my prime!, No receding hairline, knees that went all the way down and the charm of a donkey with colic.
Being made aware of Laura's existence through mutual friends from a different school, our first few years of knowing was limited to when she would take the time from her busy schedule to throw me a scrap, just enough to keep me coming back for more.
Moving on a couple of years, we run into each other at a night club, and boy oh boy this girl could move! She should have been an Olympic runner the speed she ran!
Much to my surprise, I got a message apologizing, that was 5 years later but those details aren't important.
From there I really had my work cut out for me, after 3 attempts she FINALLY agreed to let me take her out on a date, I guess she was trying to do her good deed for the day or something.
It went well, a nice dinner at the Fernvale pub, followed by 4 or so hours sitting on the swings at the park in the rain as she yelled at the bats, as i sit there thinking "Well if she talks to bats then that's why she is willing to talk to me."
After that we went on to see each other for a couple of months before I popped the big question "Will you be my girlfriend" to which she over joyously said "No."....
See, not your typical story.... Not to fear, good charm, below average looks and a big knife was all it took to win her over.
Then she wonders why it took so long to ask her to marry me.
We've kicked a few goals in our time together. We bought our first home, got a few dogs, did some traveling, climbed Uluru, both started our own businesses, collected 5 god-children and best of all, made some great life long friends along the way.
Nowadays you'll find us staying in, in bed by 8, enjoying each other company, Laura barely able to keep her hands off me as she searches my back and face for blackheads like some sort of dermatology fueled gremlin.
We aren't your perfect couple by any means, but were uniquely us, surrounded by 2 great families and some of the most genuine friends anyone could ask for.
Yeah, That's pretty much us.
